Wei Feng gets it right second time around

On Monday, the 26-year-old Wei Feng went on the attack from the start to beat former international Tan Chun Seang 21-14, 21-9 in the final of the National Grand Prix Finals at the Precinct 11 Sports Complex.

“I should have won it last year when (Lee) Chong Wei skipped the local tournament. Instead, I lost to Misbun Ramdan (Misbun) in the final,” said Wei Feng.

“This time, I got it right and I have justified my position as a senior player in the national team,” said Wei Feng.

“This year, my target was reaching the world’s top 10 but I failed. I hope to accomplish it next season,” said Wei Feng, the world No. 13.

“I also lost to two lower-ranked players in international tournaments this year. I will try to avoid doing so next year.

“I want to represent the country for the first time in the Thomas Cup Finals and make my first appearance in a Super Series tournament,” added Wei Feng, who will now shift his focus to the Korean Open from Jan 8-13.

林丹：祝球迷2014新开始 马到成功

武林俯首稱臣‧雲陳再稱霸男雙

（布城30日訊）男雙頭號種子雲天豪與陳煒木强今日在全國羽球大獎賽總決爭冠戰中以3局力挫重新聯手的“武林組合”吳偉申與林欽華，成功衛冕冠軍。

天豪與煒木强在近3個月表現出色，雖然天豪本次受右手肘傷勢所困擾並不在最佳狀態，但他仍與煒在決賽以21比16、13比21、21比14擊退犯下許多失誤的國家隊隊友偉申與欽華，第2次拿下全國冠軍。

煒木强此前就已表示，由於天豪難以在後場扣殺，所以他們在比賽中未能打出最佳水平，只能憑藉戰術和經驗在場上取分。

Venue not fit to hold badminton tournament

National singles shuttler Chong Wei Feng won his opening group match in the Maybank National Grand Prix Finals at Precinct 11 Sports Complex here on Friday but he was not jumping in joy.

“I can’t help but feel disappointed. The venue is not conducive for a big event like this. Can you imagine that the cool air from the air-conditioners was aimed directly at us from above. It affected the flow of the shuttle,” said Wei Feng after beating R. Satheishtharan 25-27, 21-12, 21-8 in his first Group A match.

“The quality of the match is affected. I hope that the hosts will, at least, switch off the air conditioner for the next few days.

“The hall can hardly fit three courts. My team-mate Iskandar (Zulkarnain Zainuddin)’s court was so close to the wall that it affected his play. This is the national championships and I wished it would have been held at a bigger place.

“I guess, it is too late to make any changes ... we just have to make do with what we have right now,” added Wei Feng, who is eyeing to become the national champion for the first time.

陳文宏抱羔 古陳棄戰韓羽賽

（吉隆坡27日訊）馬來西亞男雙古健傑與陳文宏棄戰1月7日開打的韓國超級系列羽球賽！

　國家隊雙打教練龐學章表示，他們決定讓古陳放棄韓國賽，是因為陳文宏仍未完全從病毒感染中痊癒。

　“古陳確認棄戰韓國賽，我們也沒有選擇，因為文宏未能及時從病患中康復過來，目前未能恢復至原來的狀態，因此我們決定讓他休息。”

龐學章表示，目前還未能確定古健傑與陳文宏是否會順利出戰接下來舉行的大馬超級系列賽。“我們將繼續觀察陳文宏的恢復情況，若他完全康復了，他們將會出席在自家門前舉行的大馬超級賽。”

龐學章：慢慢打，不要急 雲陳躋身世界前6

（吉隆坡14日訊）大馬羽球雙打教練龐學章認為，假若雲天豪與陳煒強能解決急躁問題，兩人將會是相當可怕的組合，並且有能力擠身世界前6。

“首場對世界冠軍哈山與亨德拉，他們就是抱著不要讓觀眾失望的心態去拼，結果心態一直調整不好，扛上壓力的包袱，在很急躁的情況下，失誤連連。”

　龐學章說，比賽時一直去和兩人交流，試圖改變他們的想法，所以在次場對戰劉小龍與邱子瀚（中國）時，他們有改善，但首局還是未完全表達出來，幸好次局壓力去到中國組合，雲陳配合心態的改善下，實現了逆轉。

他強調，昨日與韓國雙金組合的比賽也一樣，場上他試圖讓兩人不要背負太過想正名的包袱，不要把壓力背上肩，結果是有改善，但關鍵時刻再次冒現，這是他始料未及的。

　龐學章很有信心的說，如果能將比賽拖入第三局，所有壓力將會回到韓國人身上，屆時他可以很大膽的預測勝利是大馬組合。

　他也透露，這種急躁心態在大馬雙打球員身上經常出現，同樣其他國家的球員也有，問題就是如何在短時間內穩定自己，重拾場上節奏。

　“國際間強大的雙打組合都有這個問題，但他們出現（急躁）的時間很短，而且很快可以調整過來，所以我常說，看林丹與李宗偉這個水平球員的比賽是一種享受，因為他們已經達到自我調適的水平，這一點也不容易。”

2因素致低迷‧古健傑：明年雄起

（吉隆坡13日訊）大馬國羽首號男雙古健傑坦承年齡大了是影響他與拍檔陳文宏表現不穩定及節奏變慢的主要原因，國羽男雙教練將會為他們制定對策，以便能在繁忙的明年中重振雄風。

古健傑今早在谷中城會展中心出席第1屆吉隆坡體育運動展開幕後受訪時表示，他28歲，陳文宏26歲，所以兩人隨著年齡的增長，必須承受表現不穩定的打擊。

他表示，他與陳文宏無法再保持年輕時的打法和狀態，也無法繼續保持以往的進攻型作戰方式，目前主要是守多於攻。

“當我們輸球時，必須承受各方的壓力，包括自己、羽總和外來的壓力和期待，這並非是輕而易舉就可解決的事，但最重要的是取決於在我們的心態。”

他表示，大馬羽總已為他們計劃參加18個比賽，所以明年依然會很繁忙的一年。

大馬男單兵敗東運‧宗偉：很好的教訓

（吉隆坡13日訊）世界一哥李宗偉認為大馬在緬甸東運會羽賽男單項目空手而回，主要是兩名男單張維峰和伊斯干達輸在壓力，希望下屆大馬男單在東運會能夠爭取好成績。

李宗偉今日在谷中城會展中心舉行的2013年首屆吉隆坡體育運動展開幕儀式後，受詢及大馬在本屆東運會羽賽2位男單無緣摸牌，發表他的看法。

“這是維峰首次參加緬甸東運會羽賽，訂下的目標是爭奪金牌，可能這就是令維峰無法發揮原有的水平，影響場上的表現。”

他說，他希望維峰能夠吸取這一次東運會的經驗，若來屆東運會有機會再上陣，能夠爭取更好的表現。

“同時，我希望維峰和伊斯干達能吸取今次東運的教訓，以便在明年四項大賽包括亞運、共運、湯杯賽和世羽賽，為大馬爭取更好的成績。”

V Shem, Khim Wah back together … for good

NAYPYITAW: National men’s doubles shuttlers Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah are excited to resume their partnership after ending their short stint – with back-up pairs – on a sour note at the SEA Games badminton competition.

The 24-year-old Khim Wah said that he did not expect to go far with debutant Yao Han in the SEA Games because of his partner’s inexperience.

“Our opponents kept targeting Yao Han ... I could not cover for him all the time. My job – to help another back-up player – is done here,” said Khim Wah.

“I’m not too disappointed with a bronze medal here. I would have been terribly upset if I crashed out at this stage with V Shem, though.”

On his decision to team up with V Shem again, Khim Wah said: “V Shem and I are ranked 16th in the world and it will be a waste to break up now.

“V Shem and I went to see BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) president (Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff) before the SEA Games and he motivated us to stay on.

“I have decided to put our personal differences aside and give our partnership another shot. This time it is for good and I will not go back on my word. I hope to break into the top 10 with him.”

東運會羽球‧張維峰坦承狀態欠佳

（緬甸‧內比都11日訊）大馬國羽次號男單張維峰在本屆緬甸東運會的男單首圈中兩局不敵泰國的蘇邦尤，他賽後坦承自己的狀態不好。

維峰在比賽中以19比21、12比21輸給蘇邦尤。

他說：“我在比賽中的狀態確實不好，由於這裡的交通安排沒有特定的時間，因此我很早便來到賽場，且開幕儀式還延遲15分鐘開始。另外，選手村內的設備也不是很齊全，這些多多少少都對我造成一些影響。”

對於維峰吞敗，大馬男單教練拉錫說：“明顯看出他狀態不佳，至於真正原因是甚麼，我也不清楚。可能是急於求勝及感到有壓力，所以才會打不出水準。”

Meng Yean hoping to make dad proud at SEA Games

NAYPYITAW: Shuttler Lee Meng Yean, the daughter of a restaurant owner is determined to cook up a storm with her new partner Lim Yin Loo in the women’s doubles.

And for a start, the 19-year-old Meng Yean is ready to give a taste of what can be expected with Yin Loo when they take on Sapsiree Taerattanachai-Putita Supajirakul of Thailand in the quarter-finals of the SEA Games badminton competition on Thursday.

If they win, Meng Yean can be assured of at least one bronze medal in her debut.

“My father took me to the badminton hall when I was very young and introduced me to the game. Now, we discuss the skills of the game ... we can spend hours analysing the sport.

“He used to play badminton vigorously but after an injury, he is now into table tennis. He is really supportive and wants me to be a champion.

“Whenever, I am upset after losing in a tournament, I will pack my bags and head back home to Malacca. My father owns a restaurant there and that is where I relax.

“I hear comforting words from my father but sometimes, he scolds me too. I take time to wash plates and eat a lot too,” she laughed.

“After that, I always return to training with my spirits lifted.”

Meng Yuan hopes to make her father proud on Thursday in her last eight match with partner Yin Loo.

“We will go in with a fighting chance to book a semi-final ticket,” added Meng Yean, who was thrilled to show a collection of her family photos - particularly of her father – on her smartphone.

挑戰司線判決 宗偉"鷹眼"第1人

（吉隆坡11日訊）李宗偉成為使用鷹眼第一人，這將會紀錄在羽聯歷史上。　

　備受關注的鷹眼技術，今日首次在國際羽聯大賽使用，由於首階段沒有球員質疑裁判或司線員判決，使得羽球鷹眼一段無用武之地。

　不過，傍晚第2階段在主賽場率先上場的李宗偉，終于挑戰司線員判決，並經過即時回放技術分析后，宗偉挑戰成功，拿到關鍵1分，這也是大馬一哥取得開門紅關鍵。

世界羽聯此前宣佈將在此項賽事中，首次使用即時回放技術（鷹眼）。每位球員每場可對司線、主裁判罰進行兩次口頭挑戰、挑戰失敗減少一次機會，成功者將繼續享有挑戰機會。

LCW: BWF got the venue wrong

Chong Wei, who attended the competition’s official draw ceremony at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, was clearly unhappy with the quality of the stadium, and the fact the warm-up court is quite far from the main facility.

“This is a big tournament, and I don’t think the KLBA is suitable, it‘s small and there is no warm-up court at the stadium. I hope BWF will look into making the tournament better next year,” Chong Wei said.

 （內比都10日讯）双打好手许嘉雯渴望加入“金牌俱乐部”。
　本届是许嘉雯第2次亮相东运会，她在2011年仅能在团体赛收穫铜牌；双打搭档温可微在2009年寮国东运会已有金牌（团体赛）进账，现任国家队教练的前国手黄佩蒂曾在2005马尼拉和09年2度摘金。
　因此，许嘉雯希望能够和温可微在女双赛出击，摘下她在东运会的首枚金牌，她们首圈就迎战泰国组合娜莉萨帕与萨维特，闯关不易。
　“温可微和黄佩蒂在过去都曾贏得金牌，希望这次轮到我了；这是我第2次参加东运会，若得到金牌是最大的收穫。首场比赛就是场硬仗，决定我们空手而归，或有望摸牌。”

僅2種子球員 阮天明不滿安排

（內比都10日訊）儘管被列為首號种子，越南名將阮天明仍對賽會安排不滿。

“一般上至少有4名選手被列為種子，然而由于只有16名參賽者，因此只有2人列為種子（次號种子為泰國的塔農薩），所以身為首號种子的我卻抽到不好的簽運。”

　阮天明認為：“張維峰應該被列為種子球員，現在他非種子，我將提早遇到他；另外迪奧尼休斯，也落在我的半區；不管怎樣，這已經是最后決定，只是賽委會的安排讓我奇怪。”

Chan-Goh stay positive despite tough Finals draw

KUALA LUMPUR: After a year of inconsistency, mixed pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying are just eager to end their year on a positive note.

The soft-spoken Liu Ying, however, is staying positive and just wants to regain her confidence for the new year when the Super Series Finals start on Wednesday.

“This is the Super Series ... the top eight is getting tougher and tougher each day,” said Liu Ying.

“With our form, it’ll be hard to make a strong impression but I believe setting a semi-final target is realistic.

“I don’t want to think too much ... taking it one match at a time is better. After all, we finished last in last year’s Super Series Finals.

“Still, I’m feeling great even though I still have the old injury here and there ... I’m ready to play.

“Hopefully, the strong home crowd will get behind us and spur us on. What is most important is that we regain our confidence before we start preparing for next year’s tournaments.”
