Jin Wei looking forward to World Junior meet in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Youngster Goh Jin Wei did not get off to the dream start she had hoped for in the ongoing World Junior Championships in Bangkok.

But the 13-year-old Jin Wei believes that the experience she gained was good enough in a bid to mount a stronger challenge for Malaysia when the nation hosts the World Junior Championships in April in Alor Setar next year.

“It has been a great experience and I will be ready to give a better performance – especially when the world junior meet is hosted at home,” said Jin Wei.

“It is unfortunate that I got injured but I just hope that my hamstring injury is not serious. I will go home for treatment and hopefully, I will be all right,” said Jin Wei.

“Overall, I learnt many things during my first world junior meet. There are still many opponents better than us right now in the world and after this experience, I feel that there is a stronger urge within me to further improve myself as a player. We need to catch up ... fast.”
