KUALA LUMPUR: Five-time world champion Lin Dan of
China powered into the final to stay on course for a third Asian
Badminton Championships (ABC) men’s singles title in Gimcheon, South
Korea.
Yesterday, the 30-year-old Lin Dan took only 27 minutes to blow away
his younger compatriot Liu Kai 21-14, 21-13 in the semi-finals to set up
a meeting with Japan’s Sho Sasaki.
Lin Dan, the 2010 and 2011 ABC champion, has an almost perfect record against the Japanese, with his only blemish being a loss at the 2011 Indonesian Open.
The former world No. 1 is eyeing back-to-back titles, having pocketed the China Masters Grand Prix Gold last Sunday in Changzhou, China.
